Ok, so there you have it, a crude example of an altar. Well, what is an altar? In Wicca, the altar is general the focal point of magick, and religious gatherings. In most cases, that altar stand in a consecrated circle, The temple of a magick practioner if you will. Although each tradition has its own altar guide lines, the most common items found on an altar include: candles, censer, god/goddess figure, pentacle, scourge, cords, athame, sword, wand, salt, water, chalice Many witches only perform magick at an altar. Remember- an altar doesn't need to be perminent, but certainly can be. It can be inside, outside, round, rectangular, use you imagination. |
