The history of our world is the best place to get inspired for costumes. Today, there are many events where you could wear some gorgeous reproduction pieces, so why not take advantave of that trend? P.S.: It should be noted I'm not what is known as an authenticity maven. I go for the look and the feeling of a choosen period, but cut might not be completely accurate, and fabric rarely is (but I never use zippers!). My collection of medieval skirts and bustiers for instance is inspired more by what I see in proclaimed "medieval" stores than anything else.
