For my birthday in July, Gwenyver gave me the first three Harry Potter books which I had always wanted to read but never could. soon after, I ran to the bookstore to buy books 4 & 5. Whenever I opened the books, I couldn’t stop reading until 3 o’clock morning. Within 2 weeks, I had read all the books. With Tolkien, JK Rowling is my favorite author. We could easily imagine this world is real and it is so fascinating.

After asking the Sorting Hat on HarryPotter.com, I was put in the Gryffindor house which is a good thing because I like the colors. I have bought the scarf and the sweater form
Hobbies House of Wizard Wear and the tie from Alivan’s. I also use a shirt I already have. Unfortunatly, I did not have all these things when the pictures were taken.

My first idea was to make a medieval coat  but after  I considered a few little things, I realised it can be both. I did the hood smaller than what we see in the movie and so it could be usse as a medieval coat,  I did not put the gryffindor house patch. The coat is longer than what we see in the movie: mine is floor lenght.

Pattern

       I used McCall’s 4340 which is a good pattern.

Fabric

Because the hood and the sleeves are smaller than on the pattern, it only took 2.8-3 m of fabric in each color. The black fabric is bengaline and the maroon is wool crepe. I was very lucky because I bought the maroon fabric before my tie and the color matches perfectly.

Advice

Personaly, I find a two color robe is much nicer but it makes the robe a little heavy.
Front and back views, with or without the hood.
Two witches dueling.
