Oriana may be a priestess, but she’s also a warrior. For a campaign or a battle, she’ll wear a red shirt, symbol of strenght and courage, with a pair of black pants, a black bustier and  black boots, black representing the severity of the situation and being a practical colour when you are sent out too spy on the enemy. A leather belt will hold both her sword scabard and her water gourd. She carries a bag in which she keeps all the necessities, like food for when she is sent out in a scouting mission in the middle of the night. To keep her warm she wears a black cloack made of polar creature skin. She’ll also wear her hair in nine braids to keep them out of her face in the heat of battle.

Fabrics

The shirt is made of dark red cotton.

The bustier and pants are made of a thick black denin like cotton.

The shirt ties is made of tiny golden cord.

The cord used to lace up the bustier and tie the pants is medium size black stin cord.

I’ve used two sizes of eyelets for this costume: small black ones for the shirt and 1/2 inch size golden ones for the pants and bustier.

Patterns

For the shirt, I used Simplicity 5684 view A and made the sleeves a bit longer. I also decided to lace up the collar with tiny gold cord.

The bustier is made from McCall’s 2793 view B. I’ve put 20 eyelets in total on the front of the bustier. It gives it a regal sort of look because of the shine.

The pants are made from Simplicity 5494. Instead of using an elastic at the waist, I used a cord to tie them. I obviously also had to add eyelets.

Advice

Eyelets  need to be hammered in. It is a bad idea to do that early in the morning, next to your brother’s bedroom door, especially when he’s been out all night and now has a hangover. (hehehe)
Front and back view of the costume. I usually wear walking boots and not sandals for battles. I also wear my hair in a multitude of braids (nine is usually a max with my hair thickness) so my hair is out of my face and doesn't get tangled in branches or during a nap (campaigns last 24 hours straight and you dont get much sleep).

See all the golden eyelets on the front of the bustier? It looks cool and rich, but it also makes it very complicated to take it of quickly or to put it back on and lace it up when you're under attack.
I was told I look like Bonemine... Oriana, warrior priestess!
