For the L'Ile du Dragon Dormant’s Pennsic Pity Party, Steph and I desperately needed historically acceptable camp clothes. I found some purple cotton on sale that would match my green tartan shawl and all my Arisaids. Originally, I wanted to make a Chiton so I bought four meters. Then, I saw a Stargate SG-1 episode (Season 9, Episode 19, Crusade if anyone cares to know) where Vala is wearing a dress and shawl and decided to make myself a dress instead. So I bought six more meters for the dress and decided to use the original four for a Men’s T-Tunic. In the end, a long and a short tunics plus a hood only used up six meters, so I still have enough for a Chiton. All that for 20$!!!

Material

Purple cotton on sale at 2$ a meter.

Pattern

       I used
Reconstructing History’s First Garb T-Tunic pattern, free for use on their website.

For the neckline, I used Butterick 4827, view A. That was a mistake. I wanted a nice opened neckline and instead, I got an off-the-shoulder one. It’s a bit too sexy for a T-tunic, but I’ll live with it. Anyways, I always wear it with an Arisaid or shawl.

Advice

When cutting a neckline, start small, then adjust

A scottish lady with her plaid shawl. It gets cold in Scotland, wrap that shawl around you tightly.
Proud Scot! At one with nature!
By the way, if you recognize this plaid, it might be you've seen it
here. If that's not it, tell me where you saw it.
