Below is a personal and brief description of tools used in rituals and spells.

Image of the God and Goddess: This can be a picture, statuette, stones, carving and etc. These are used to focus your energy to the God and Goddess.

Athame: A triple edged knife, used to direct energy in the circle. To cut doorways, in and out of the circle, consecrating the salt and the water, initiations, and swearing oaths. Each member of a coven or practicioner should have their own Athame.

Censor: Used for burning herbs, incense and used to invite the Goddess and God.

White Knife: Used only for actual cutting inside the circle.

Salt: Used for Circle casting, consecration of altar tools. Used in making Blessed water. Also used to represent Earth.

Water: Used in purifying ones self. Purify the circle and the area around it. Also used to represent water.

Pentacle: A disc usually made of metal or wood. Used to place offerings on. A focus for energy.

The Cauldron: A symbol of the Goddess. Used to burn wood or mix brews during rituals or spell casting.

Bell: Not an overly used item by all. Used to calm the mind and the spirit for the task at hand.

Cords: Used for initiation rituals, handfasting and as a symbol of ones commitment to the coven or path.

Altar Cloth: This can be anything you prefer. A table or coffee table or large rock. It can be also of any shape. It is your personal place of worship where your tools rest.

Chalice: Used to hold liquids used in the rituals or spellcastings.

Sword: Can be used instead of a Athame for creating circles and so forth.

Book Of Shadows: A book in which you place power of thoughts, rituals, spells, rules, laws and the Wiccan traditions.

Candles: Different colors are used to bring focus on different energies or to represent the elements. Also used for consecrations to represent fire.

Incense:Used to invite the spirits and the deities. Also used to represent air.

Offering Bowl: Used to place the offering of cakes and such to deities.

The Wand: The wand is used in both magic and rituals. It is used mostly to invoke the Goddess and the God, direct energy, and to charge other objects. It is used to draw symbols upon the ground and even to stir the cauldron.

The Broom: The broom is a tool of magic and ritual that is still used by witches today. It is used for protection. It is most commonly used for physically and magically cleaning an area that will be used as a sacred space. Brooms are often used in handfasting rituals. (Broom Leap).

Ritual Jewelry & Dress: This is jewelry that holds power for you and is used only in rituals.  It may be a ring, pendant, bracelet or necklace. The dress can be robes, or clothing only used in rituals. Usually never out of synthetic material. Or you can worship naked. It is your choice.
