The best tips of all is to do something like the angel in the picture above! Specifically do something with your hands and mouth that doesn't involve calories going in the mouth!! The following are some suggestions: *Keep a water bottle with you and drink lots of water. *Take up an evening occupation if you sit and watch TV, such as knitting or cross stitching so your hands are busy. *Give yourself a manicure and paint your nails so you can't use your hands to eat while the coats dry. *When struck with a terrible craving do one of two things; either look at one of your "fat" pictures (you can keep it with you in your purse) or even better....go strip naked and stand in front of a full length mirror. Visulaize yourself slim and toned and healthy. *If your lover is nearby on TV commercials or when a craving strikes, kiss your lover instead of eating anything. (If you don't have a lover or if your lover is not nearby try engaging in a delightful fantasy in which you are the gorgeous and slim "star") *Hang an article of clothing that you long to fit into where you will see it everyday. *When making meals different for the family than for yourself, make yours first so you won't be tempted to pick at their food while you cook/prepare...pick off your own plate instead. *keep a container or ziplock baggie of cut up veggies like cukes, red pepper slices, celery, etc. to grab easilly if you feel a munchie attack coming on. * Try taking L-5-HTP (available in healthfood stores) which has been proven in recent studies to curb cravings to munch. (I take a 100 mg. Tablet in the morning and again right after supper. I can really tell if I don't take it!) * GET ENOUGH SLEEP!! Sleep deprivation can make you want to eat all sorts of comfort foods and sweets! * Excercise is a great appetite suppressant. try experimenting with the time of day you excercise, how long and the intensity to guage how each variation affects your appetite. * Keep a daily food journal. Try recording not just everything that goes into your mouth, but the time of day, how much sleep and excercise you have had...the mood/feelings you experienced....what time of month it is...what triggered pig-outs, etc. * Most of all...now and always....never never quit on yourself and your potential to be the best you can be! |
