Gabba:
A Goddess of the "Abyss", a crone aspect of the "Dark" All Mother, and one of the Dark Queens. She
is mysterious and works in such ways. Her magickal symbol is the Celtic endless weave or knot.

Gaia:
A Native name for Mother Earth; The Goddess.

Gardner, Gerald B:
The man credited with the Pagan revival in England (and the world, really) in the 1950's.
The first person to declare himself a witch since before the Persecutions. He has written many, many books on the topic, actually making him one of the forefathers of modern pagan literature and texts.

Garnet:
A magickal stone whose qualities are that of physical strength, imagination, flow, love, and passion.

Geller Effect:
One or more psi talents (probably including bonding control) that enable the user to bend metal objects without touching them, named after this century’s best known user, Uri Geller. The effect is real and has been done by Geller and others under impeccable laboratory controls, regardless of the tales told by Geller’s supporters and detractors.

General Extrasensory Perception or GESP:
A term used when two or more forms of ESP are operating at the same time.

Geomancy
Divination by the earth.

Germ Theory:
(1) In Tantra, the theory that every entity has a germinal or root sound, the repetition of which can create that entity.
(2) In the West, a folk belief that all diseases are caused by miniature demons called “germs” or “viruses.”

Ghost:
Personification of data received as the result of a plug-in to an individual metapattern within the
Switchboard, and/or the spirit of a dead person or animal, still existing in a non-physical manner, and/or something(s) else entirely.

Glamour:
A charm or spell, usually a visual and/or an audible illusion.

Glyph
A sigil imbued with magick.

Gnome
An elemental that dwells in the earth plane. See also Elementals.

Goal:
The general result one actually wishes to accomplish with a particular magical or psychic act. Compare
with Target.

Gobannon:
Also "Govannon", "Goibniu". A blacksmith God of magick. His magickal symbols are blacksmithing tools and the 'transforming' fire.



Goblet:
The ritual Cup of Love. This is the preferred term used by pagans over the more Christian term, "Chalice". It has a stem that separates the base from the cup. Traditionally, this sacred object is made of metal or clay (glass), symbolizing the element of Water (and the Goddess). See also "Chalice".

God or Goddess, A: See Deity.

God or Goddess, The:
The particular masculine or feminine deity worshiped by a particular mono-, heno-, or duotheist.

“God or Goddess, Thou Art:”
A statement of divine immanence common among Neopagans, originally from Robert Heinlein’s book, Stranger in a Strange Land.

Goddess:
The Goddess(ess) of Paganism and Witchcraft. The feminine aspect of deity. She is both good and evil, (or light and dark) as nature is. The Goddess has many different names dependant upon culture and tradition. She is known as Athena, Aphrodite, Isis, Hecate, Daphne, Freya or Frigga, and many others. She is worshipped in three main aspects: the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, thus giving her the title of "Triple Goddess".

God, Horned:
The God of Pagans and Witchcraft. The masculine aspect of deity. He is also both good and evil, (or light and dark) as nature is. The Horned God, as with the Goddess, has many names The Horned God is not "Satan" or "the Devil". The reason the God is horned, is because it is a natural trait of masculinity with no connotations of evil.

Godling:
A young or minor deity.

Goetia:
From words meaning “howling or crying,” the medieval books of ceremonial magic, such as The
Greater and Lesser Keys of Solomon.

Golem:
An artificial person given life by the carving of a Sacred Name upon his or her forehead and usually used as a slave. Has deeper meanings in real Hebrew Mysticism, in which we are all golems in some sense.

Gothic:
Of the Northern-European Pagan traditions and/or cultural tribes other than Celtic. These include Norse, Germanic, Icelandic, Dutch, Swedish, etc.

Grammary
Written magick, including symbols, signs, Ogham, and sigils.

Grand Druid:
The leader of the High Council of Nine. This is the "Pope" of Celtic Druidism.

Graphology:
(1) A method of personality assessment based upon the study of  handwriting samples.
           (2) A method of divination based upon the use of such samples as contagion links.

Gravity Control:
A psychic talent for altering the gravitational fields in a particular location, such as in a room or around an object or being.

Gray Magic:
Magic that is neither “black” nor “white,” hence morally neutral, at least according to those who use these quaint terms.

Great Adventure, The:
The cycle of life: Birth, Life, Death, and Rebirth.

Great Rite
This rite see most commonly in witchcraft marks the initiation into the third degree. Historically sexual in nature, now it is performed symbolically instead.

Grimoire: 
So-called “Black Books” of (usually Goetic) magic, consisting of recipe collections, scrapbooks of magical customs, Who’s Who’s of the spirit worlds and phone directories for contacting various entities. Fairly useless unless you know enough Hebrew, Greek and Latin to correct all the mistakes.


Gris-Gris
In African religious systems, a charm, fetish, or amulet.

Group mind:
A section of the Switchboard consisting of two or more metapatterns linked into an identity
circuit. Term is used for those formed telepathically in rituals but can also be used to refer to mobs or other cases of crowd hysteria

Grove:
A clearing in a woodland or forest in which Witches (especially Druidic and Celtic traditions) have their
covenstead. Sacred land of a pagan, witch, or coven.

Gwalchmei:
Called the "Hawk' or 'Falcon of May", as the son of the Goddess "Mei". He is a God of love and music. His magickal symbols are raptors and the fields at hunting times - early morning and late afternoon.

Gwyddon:
Magician; Wise One (Witch or Wiccan), Astrologer, and/or Healer.

Gwyddonic Druidism:
A Druidic pagan tradition which focuses greatly on the concept of "Oneness". See also
"Oneness".

Gwydion:
Is the son of "Danu" ("Don"). He is a God of kindness, the arts, eloquence, and magick; a master of
illusion and fantasy, and helper of humankind. He is the brother of "Gobannon" and "Amaethon". He is
brother and Consort to "Arianhrod". Gwydion has 2 sons, "Dylan" and "Lugh". "Math", son of
"Mathonwy", handed on his knowledge and abilities (which are infinite) to his student and nephew Gwydion. A bard and magician, Prince of the powers of Air, and a shape-shifter. He is a great enchanter and healer and his magickal symbol is the harp.

Gwyn ap Nudd:
Also "Gwyn". A God of the Wild Hunt, of the death chase, and of the Otherworld. He is the hunter of souls and lord of the unmanifested. His magickal symbol is his companion; a large white hound with red ears named "Dormarth".

Gymnastics, Metaphysical:
The fine art of leaping from an unverified assumption to a foregone conclusion, without traversing the
logical space in between. See Theology.
