The Threefold Law I personally do not believe this, as I feel it is more an intimidation tactic on the part of Gerald Gardner to encourage initiates to consider the consequences of their actions more carefully (no hate mail from Wiccans on this please!!! ;) ). Whilst I DO believe that you MUST carefully consider the consequences of any magickal workings you perform, I do not believe that your actions will rebound on you three times over: take a look at the fundamental laws of physics, it is a physical impossibility. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" - the Universe cannot multiply the energy it is given, it can only transmute the energy you put in into a different form. Therefore, whatever you put in, WILL come back to you, but only in direct proportion to your action in the first place. I personally find this is still a good incentive to take a long hard look at my motives for working magick in the first place; do I REALLY need to work this? Am I prepared to accept the kickbacks for my actions? If the answer to both those questions is yes, then I do the working. If not, I reconsider and either look at a different way of doing it, or I don't do it in the first place. |
