Dreamer II
19 May 2000
I heard angels sing with fervent hope
And daylight was borne in your eyes.
Sparkle your brilliant eyes at me
While I try to look away,
Laying my soul bare in minutes of conversation
To let you know who I am.
I am sorry to lay this heart at your feet;
I had forgotten for a moment
That we are strangers,
And that salvation does not lie in your eyes,
Rather in this fervent imagination.
See, I thought I saw a million smiles
Laid bare in the corners of your eyes,
Saw chivalry sparkling against the armor
That you hid behind your dusty wiles,
Saw strength of character glimmering
Underneath the easy laughter.
Saw interest ignite pyres of desire
That you kept dampened beneath work demeanor.
But, all I saw
Was the soulmate I wish into existance
That wears the façade of every stranger
And bears the hopeless hope
That this one shall wear the armor
And find it fits.
I am sorry,
I thought I heard angels sing
But it was only the sound of my own heart.
