Victoria's Gifts

July 95

Of what value is a word? Spoken baldly, naked in its veracity, it might sting harshly or set one free. I know one who makes gifts of words giving freely of her knowledge

her wisdom her hope her laughter.
Of what value is a smile? Given freely, glorious in its veracity, it might wound with sarcasm or bring joy. I know one who hands them out like candy these smiles, throwing them widely to touch each aching heart
each solemn mind each answering smile.
Of what value is a touch? Given willingly, necessary in its veracity, it might bruise the tortured being or comfort the melancholy soul. I know one who touches everyone
some with hands that soothe some with knowledge that broadens minds some with sarcasm that shatters stereotypes some with laughter that lightens hearts.
Of what value is a word, a smile, a touch? Of what value is
a friend?
