Invitations

I saw you looking With intense eyes and slight smile As if you would devour me Bit by bit. I will tell you with knowing smile And thoughtful eyes That I know your intent And agree Yet will keep my actions subdued And my desire in line For I see your golden bands And unspoken commitment. I do not need more Than this acknowledgement. You need not speak to me In veiled innuendo Nor subtle voice of desire For I see your eyes And that is all that I need. I will not approach your desire Nor hold your intent in my hands, For I must respect your golden chains That ball-and-chain you to another.
