I Remember Me
25 Jan 2000
Surrounded by paltry care,
I fear for this good heart.
Oft’, I rebuild this hope
believing in the elusive dream
that love shall redeem.
Yet, too many times,
I am lost to the games
that brutal hearts do ply,
and lose my way to the shining path
that I have committed myself to walking;
growing this soul
enriching this life
and committing senseless acts of kindness
in the world I inhabit.
Pulsing heart beat
leads me true,
yet often I allow myself
to be waylaid by mendacious miens
that offer my soul
no little abuse.
I remember me …
in these quiet moments, reflecting on life,
listening to the soothing scratch
of my pen on these pages
I find the artist that I feed,
find the joyful dancer that nourishes my heart
and embrace the gentle soul
that knows goodness in this life.
I remember me.
