Sister
13 May 2000
Each day is a test;
Is this the moment that my past
Will once more wreck havoc?
Is this the person who will divide my heart from my walls
And so conquer?
Is this the time when I will realize once more
That anguish is called MAN, and he betrays?
This trust, such a difficult task.
Parched for emotion, I clench my teeth
Knowing to ask is to risk pain.
She hears what I do not say,
Answers what I will not speak,
Eases each pain tat I refuse to voice.
I hear savior in her heart,
This family I find in her eyes,
And she saves me.
I have no walls, no fears,
For I call her sister
And finally comprehend what that means.
Mocking those that claim family sacred,
In never knew what they meant
Until her.
She brings honor to my shame
Shows me courage through pain
And teaches me what health feels like.
Stunned
Tears upon my cheeks
I have found family.
