The Rhythm of the Night
Dedication: To The Living Nature Inspiration: Refreshing Walks on Cool Nights Cool breeze walks through my hair, Gentle and humble in its gait, It whispers something to the trees While sleepy birds watch and wait. The moon shines pompously, Ruling the gleaming waters, White, and pale in reflection, Cold and firm as the Garter. My footsteps impressed on the sand As the fine fragments glare back at me, Though underneath, it looks glamorous, Wearing diamonds, light and free. How very weightless and fine, Far and wide it travels, Yet it carries the burden of the world, Making friends with stone and gravel. A cat and its meek mew, The crickets and grasshoppers hopping on a stone, The poor trash can totally mute, Standing tall though very lone. I look at the quiet world around me, Breathing sighs of life, And I realize how peaceful nature can be And life, such strife. I taste the goodnight of the flowers, I smell the freshness of the wet sand, I feel the stars in me confide, I hear the sweet rhythm of the night. Purti Awal Copyright © 2003 Purti Awal |
