I'm drugged! Dedication: To My Room in my house in India and to all the amazing hours I have spent on the phone Inspiration: A headache and Sumit Kamboj The world was swirling all about, Hazy and obscure were the revel and rout. My eyes were heavy, filching from sleep; The soaring light headedness was overwhelmingly deep. I laughed and giggled and knew the reason not, I roared and raged with the noisy lot. I gazed around the dingy room full of smoke, And sunk deeper in my cloak. I headed towards the door, Kicking beer cans on the floor, And as the air opened, the air stung me, Poisoned, choked and almost deceased me. I clambered through the dusky streets, Synchronizing my steps with my heartbeats. I fell once and tasted blood, The headlights of cars did my eyes flood. I walked over the bridge and felt the sea, I closed my eyes and aided my bruised knee. The pain was excruciating but did I smile, Thought I could flirt with joy for a while. Sanity, I had started to play with, The ardour sustained started to writhe. I got up again and limped about aimlessly, The rain now had started to fall heavily. As I moved, I found myself in the dark wood, And my feet bore with me as far as they could. I bumped into a tree and then into a hedge, Balancing life and death near the edge. As the sun's first rays started to show, I started to remember my friends and foes. As the new sun rose, my life's sun, set, The road of my life with its end had met. In the last minutes, as memories hugged, I realized GOOD HEAVENS! I had been drugged. Purti Awal Copyright, 2002 |
