The Universal Eye Dedication: Totally dedicated to My English project by Ms. Voidis. Inspiration: A project to make a magazine. The theme was world problems and I wrote it in keeping that in mind. I travelled from a corner to the other, Living and reliving the dreams and hopes, Expected people never came, While my heart, in the darkness it gropes, I saw, touched and felt every face and heart, Shocked I was by the coldness I received, Upset and shaken, I drew back my hand And slumped back, sorrowful and bereaved I looked into those vile eyes, Those evil forces made me succumb And when my vision met reality, It dawned to me what the world had become. There was a picture where I saw quarrels, Daggers and bullets flying past me, I could smell the pungent odour of abuse And hear fiery tongues on a violent spree. A stream of blood touched my feet, Bodies I saw, lying on sixes and sevens, Such an ugly portrayal of humanity, Not only me, shuddered even the heavens. Moving on, I read the tale of poverty, Trembling hands dying for a morsel of food, Frail naked bodies, reduced to a skeleton, The fight for survival had become a blood feud. Living on the same street were the rich and famous, Drowned in liquor and thirst for women, Those were the people, who did not care, Ignorant and unaware of the unfortunate omen. I resolved and knew the time had come, To make people know about the problems in the world, I sat and put together a magazine that saw it all, “The Universal Eye”, the forces hurled. It is a dangerous jungle out there, Read the Universal Eye and remain informed, Take a stand, and make a difference, Before it is too late, and the world is deformed.
