Amy Grech - cont.
Louise: Which authors have influenced your work and left a lasting impact on your writing?

Amy: Henry James, Stephen King, H. P. Lovecraft, Joyce Carol Oates, Edgar Allan Poe, and Mary Shelly.

More recently I’ve read Linda Addison, Gerard Houarner, Brian Keene, Michael Liamo, Mike Oliveri,
and Stewart O’Nan.

Louise: When creating your characters what techniques do you use to flesh out their personalities and make them more real to your readers?

Amy: Stream of consciousness is an effective tool.  It helps me get to know my characters by letting them run off at the mouth.  I also find it helpful to create character histories, to develop my characters’ motivation and give them more dimension.

Louise: What releases do you have coming out in 2005?

Amy: I’m currently adapting material for Blackridge Entertainment, Inc. (http://www.blackridge.tv/)  I recently sold a screenplay, "Too Much of a Good Thing" to Producer Matt Jade. Plus I’ve got an article "Death Machines: Untimely Demise" appearing in the Holiday
Issue of City Slab Magazine (
http://www.cityslab.com/). Be sure to visit my Web site (http://www.crimsonscreams.com/) to see what else I’m up to!

Louise: If you could collaborate with any current author on a project, who would you choose to work with and why?

Amy: Definitely Brian Keene!  He’s very prolific and his work always packs a punch!  I don’t think he’s collaborated with any female authors yet.
