| An Interview with Larry Sells (cont.) | ||||||||||
| Louise: Who are some of your writing influences? Larry: For fiction is James Kisner, JN Williamson, Robert Bloch, Brian Lumley, Dennis Etchison, Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King, Martin Yoseloft, and some horror comics I read when I was a child. Poetry influences is Sylvia Plath, Robert Lowell, John Grey, and James Hearst. Louise: If you could be any other author for a day, living or dead, who would you be? Larry: Stephen King I would like to get inside his head and make him hungry again. Louise: What’s the most valuable piece of advice you have received as a writer? Larry: Never sell all rights in your writing. Keep them. If you sell all rights to the publisher, they don’t have to pay you for film rights or foreign rights, if these conditions aren’t stated in your contract. Also learn all you can about publishing rather that would be magazines, ezines, ebooks, or paperbacks. Keep working on your writing skills always rewriting, polishing, and learn how to accept and give proper criticism. # # # To learn more about author, Larry Sells, visit his Lulu store at: http://www.lulu.com/deathwalk Or visit him at Freaky Frights: http://www.freakyfrights.net/ |
