It was a heart.

Staring at the bloody organ, Alex still didn’t believe what he witnessed.  That was until he heard a voice echo down the chimney.

“Merry Christmas to All, the Nine Reindeer are free.”

“What was that?”  Marie asked as she ran from her haven in the kitchen.

Stunned, couple listened as the jingle of bells faded away.

Alex saw the ring on the ground by the heart and picked it up.  Taking her slender hand in his, he slipped it on her finger.

     "I love you Alex."

"I love up too Marie." Alex smiled as the Santa's blood began to dry like a scab on his face."

Marie smiled back,"In the morning I think you need to bury what is left of Saint Nick. There should be a box downstairs that you can put his remains in. Then you can dig a grave for him out back underneath the pine tree, by where you put Baby, that poor dog could use some company."

Alex laughed and after what he went through it was much need. "That sounds like a great idea. It's looks like Mr. Kind To All, was not kind to the animals that helped him the most. Maybe the soul of our pesky dog will teach him a lesson. Either that, or the soul of his leg will get a work out. I hated the humping the leg habit that dog had".
