While the rest of this world may be so hateful,
For one thing on earth am I ever grateful
Though this place is dark and the future bland,
this brilliant flame I hold in my hand
I treasure this light and its rarity I value,
For its warmth has proven to be through and through
Close to my heart I hold this bright heat
Without it, I would be cold and incomplete
This flickering light of which I speak,
Which gives me strength when I am weak,
gives my life meaning, its only goal
For this flame is the fire of your soul
When all I want is for my world to end,
