Scooby- I'm from Oahu, Hawaii. I'm Japanese, Okinawan, Hawaiian, Spanish, French, and Irish. I moved to NYC in 1998.
Current occupation?
Scoo- performer, actor, stylist, make-up artist .
Inspiration ?
Scoo- Some of my many inspirations and influences are 80's freestyle and new wave music, Phoebe Cates, Vivienne Westwood, and Jem and the Holograms
Objective?
Scoo- I have always wanted to live in NYC, even if just for a year or two (I've been here 8 years now). It was always my favorite place to visit. When i first moved here, Richie Rich took me under his wing. I had known him previously and we became great friends. He really opened a lot of doors for me and he continues to be a huge inspiration to me. I worked for Susanne Bartsch for a short while and also hosted a few of her parties here and in South Beach. I was a host at Spa and Plaid at Kenny's fabulous Thursday night shindigs, as well as various other clubs and parties. I've done a couple of small parts in very D-List movies.
Right now i'm working on more club music with DJ/Producer Hector Fonseca. His remix of my first single "hotdog in my buns" just got picked up by *69 records for a compilation called "New York Club Anthems". It will be available everywhere on Sept. 12. It also features tracks by Goldfrapp and Donna Summer, so i'm excited to be included on it.
Where do see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
Scoo- I have a vague idea of where i'd like to be. I think i'm on the right path. I'm fascinated by Japan and have not been there in years, so hopefully my music reaches there and opens up some opportunities for me to go back and perform. I see a lot of travel in my future.
If you could give one piece of advise to someone who has aspirations of following in your footsteps what would it be?
Scoo - Be yourself and don't hate.
