Doggie Bone Treats 2 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup wheat germ 2 tbsp milk 2 tbsp butter 1 tsp brown sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 egg 1/3 cup beef or chicken broth Preheat oven to 350. Coat a cookie sheet with non stick spray In a large bowl combine flour, wheat germ, butter, sugar and salt. Mix til crumbly. Add the egg, milk and broth all at once. Mix well. On lightly floured surface knead dough til smooth. Using rolling pin roll out to 1/2 in thickness. Using a dog bone shaped cookie cutter or knife, cut out biscuits. (I figured Scamp wouldn't care so I just cut out small squares, perfect for training treats) Place on greased cookie sheet and bake 25-30 min or til completely browned. Biscuits should be hard. They're completely safe and edible if the kids get into them, though probably not very tasty. Ben liked them though. Hehe....that is til I told him what they were for! SNORT. ************************************************************************************** Doggie Popsicles Another treat our dogs love is when I chop up leftover roast beef or cooked chicken (NO PORK!) and drop small chunks into an ice cube tray. Pour water over and freeze! Voila. Doggie Popsicles. Or if you have left over chicken or beef broth you can freeze it in ice cube trays also. A little messier, but a great outdoor summer treat! |
