Rules

I'm just starting with a few basics and I'll have our official tournament and league rules posted here soon.

Count - We start all at bats with a 1 ball, 1 strike count. The goal is to speed up game play so we can get tournaments and league games completed effectively.

Innings - Again, to keep with a consistent schedule we shorten games. Basically we find that it takes 10 minutes to play a complete inning when average and beginning players are playing. Advanced players play faster. So we use 5 inning games for our tournament when we use round robin pool play.

Pitcher's mound. Our mound is 40ft away from our target. (I'll add target dimensions later, I'll have to measure to be sure, but it's the standard opening with a net to catch the balls.

A ball that hits the batter is simply a ball. If a batters tries to get in front of a pitch and it hits the batter it is a strike.

Fielding. We use the simplist method for determing errors. If the ball touches the fielder and then touches the ground it's an error. So basically a fielder can juggle all day long as long as the ball doesn't touch the ground.

Running. We don't run. All balls that reach the fences on the ground are singles. It the fence in the air=double. Hit special sections of the fence=triples. Over the fence=homerun.

Tagging-up. A fly ball is a ball in the air that reaches a height above the fielders heads. During a flyball, before it makes contact with the fielder, the batter can declare "Tag" and the fielder who fields the ball must throw it towards the strike zone. If the ball hits anywhere on the strikezone boards, either in the net or stiking the side, the 'runner' tagging is out, if the ball misses the target, the runner succesfully tags. this is a fun rule thaht gets the outfielders more invlolved in the game.

Equipment. We use only official Wiffle equipment. Yellow bats may have a taped grip only.

Field dimensions. We have three fields. Two are on our roller hockey arena. Left field lines are 70 ft. Centerfield is 95 ft. Our third field is on the grass. Because the ball has a lessor chance to roll to the fence to be a hit, we've shortened thise field. 64ft down the lines and 83 ft to center.
