Wiffle WarsŪ World Series Recap (Games 4-6)

Game 4 was quite the thriller with terrific defense and pitching from both teams. Matt Lapinski and Brandon Wilkins seem to bring their "A" game pitching and Ethan Williams and Josh Steiger brought theirs as well defensively. It also helped that the wind was blowing in for these pitchers as it was a tough day to hit any big fat taters outta the park.  The game went into extra innings as the Lager's were up to bat in the bottom of the 6th. They somehow managed to get the bases loaded and big bopper "MVP" Josh Steiger was licking his chops trying to prove once again why he was chosen "MOST CLUTCH" in the Regular Season. It all boiled down to a 3-2 count with 1 out. Wilkins threw a great pitch on the outside corner and Steiger popped it up to seemingly end the game. But wait, the spirit of ol' Bill Buckner was out and somehow, someway, Wilkins dropped the ball and the run came a tumblin in for the Lager's first victory of the series. It also was the first time The Bushwhackers had been shut out.  This brought game 5.

Game 5 was quite similar to Game 4 as it was once again great pitching and defense.  Some highlights from this game include: a double play turned by Steiger as well as a homerun rob of Ethan Williams and some great catches by Wilkins from the pitcher position. The Lager's took their possible final at bat in the 5th with the score 0-0 and Steiger up to the plate who helped his teams' cause with a solo homerun and that was all that was needed as Lapinski did the rest on the mound insuring them like "State Farm" a Game 5 victory.

Game 6 turned out to be quite a slugfest with Matt Lapinski starting it off. Yes, Matt Lapinski believe it or not! Lapinski in his first at bat belted a Wilkins pitch offering and deposited it way over the left field fence for an early 1-0 lead. But the Bushwhackers were not going to be shutout once again. With Wilkins leading the way, the Bushwhackers hit 3 two run homers in the 2nd inning with Wilkins hitting 2 of them and Big E with one of his own.  They amassed 7 runs in one inning and seemed to go on cruise control until the 5th inning. With virtually no hope the Lager's tried as best as they could to come back. Steiger lead off the inning putting on one of the most unbelievable hitting displays as you will find out by  hitting a homer in his first at bat. Lapinski then got out. Steiger seeing his team in need, crushed another Wilkins pitch for his 2nd homerun in the inning. Making the game 7-3. Lapinski then somehow hit a matrix like hit off his thumb for a single. With a guy on, Steiger was on top of his game going yard again for his 3rd dong of the inning making the game 7-5. But the luck ended with Lapinski flying out to Wilkins who made a "Willie Mays" type catch to end it. The fireworks were set off and the classy, yet proven, and tough Bushwhackers were crowned the first ever Wiffle WarsŪ Champs! Congratulation to both teams!
