The Guide to Pac-Man

Pac-Man is a video game. In the arcade version the player uses a joystick to move Pac-Man.
The start of the game
The character that you control in the video game has the same name as the game, "Pac-Man." Pac-Man is a yellow circular person. Using the joystick, you can move Pac-Man in 4 directions: up, down, right and left.

The game takes place in a maze. In this maze, there are several kinds of food for Pac-Man to eat. Each one will add points to your score.
Dots are worth 10 points each. There are a lot of dots in the maze and each one must be eaten before you can move to the next level.
A dot
There are larger, flashing dots known as power pellets. When you eat a power pellet you get 50 points and something good happens but we will get to that part further down in the guide.

Bonus items, known as "fruit" appear twice in each level. A fruit can give you anywhere from 100 points to 5000 points, depending on what kind of fruit you have eaten and what level you are in.
Fruits
Beware of the four other moving characters, known as ghosts. Each ghost is a different color. The ghosts move around the maze just like Pac-Man but instead of eating dots, power pellets and fruit, they try to catch Pac-Man and kill him.
The ghosts
Most of the time you must avoid letting the ghosts catch you but if you eat a power pellet they will turn blue and then you can eat them! The ghosts are worth 200, 400, 800 and 1600 points.
Blue Ghost
After a ghost is eaten, his eyes will return to the "ghost box" where he will be restored to normal.

There is a tunnel in the maze. By going through the tunnel, Pac-Man can go from the right side of the maze to the left side of the maze and vice versa. Be on your guard when you go through the tunnel, though, because the ghosts can through the tunnel, too. The tunnel slows the ghosts down, though, so you can use it to escape from them for a little while.

You are given 3 Pac-Men (lives) at the beginning of the game. When you reach 10,000 points you receive another life. When you run out of lives the game ends.
