Boston Sports Fans Should Stop Crying
First, I have to qualify this by saying I don't like the Yankees.  In fact I may hate them.  Normally I'm hoping that the team goes down in some horriffic, but hilarious plane accident.  That being said, I approve of the A-Rod trade for one very important reason: spite.  To me, and I hope the rest of the world it looks like Steinbrenner did this out of complete spite for the Red Sox.  And I for one approve of any major decision, or even very minor ones, that are made out of spite.  Its just so much funnier to make a decision out of spite than it is for non-spite.
But to the point at hand, I feel that Red Sox fans are doing way too much whining about this trade.  First, this taken from Peter King - On Sunday, in the middle of February, the Boston Globe devoted about two-and-a-half full sports pages to a New York Yankees trade, with a total of about one-and-a-half pages on news about the other three pro sports teams in town -- the Bruins, Celtics and world champion Patriots.  More evidence comes from Bill Simmon's article on ESPN page 2, a boston native and boston sports fan.  In his article he wrote "My phone was ringing off the hook. Even my father -- a reasonable man, by all accounts -- turned into Nancy Kerrigan and did everything but scream "Why????? Why me?????  My favorite phone call came from my buddy Hench, who was attending a wedding back East. When someone casually told him the news, poor Hench was done for the rest of the reception. His legs buckling under him, he stepped outside for fresh air, pacing in 30-degree weather like a maniac, finally leaving a 90-second message on my machine that featured 20 swears, three tirades and a climactic 10-letter expletive about Gene Orza. Happy Valentine's Day."    And finally, Ben Affleck, Mr. Boston himself.  Actually, I don't know what Ben Affleck said about this but I'm assuming that he's an emotional mess since J-Lo dumped him (Hopefully she'll start making good songs again instead of the luvy dovey shit she put out when she was dating him), I'm sure it was  pathetic and sounded like the kid who always took his ball home in the middle of a football game.  Also, from now on Ben Affleck speaks for all of boston regarding sports.  If people in Boston don't like it they should move somewhere else, and take you're diapers with you.
My problem is this.  The Patriots have just won there second super bowl in two years and two weeks later its like the apocolypse has just happened in New England.  Furthermore, the baseball season hasn't even started but its like the Red Sox just lost the ALCS in game seven already.  Lets look at the facts.  The Red Sox have just gone out and significantly improved last seasons team that was one major manager blunder away from the world series.  Why are you babies crying so much?  The Patriots just won the Super Bowl two weeks ago?  Why do I feel like everyone one in Boston needs a nap and a pacifier?  You want to know real sports heartbreak become a fucking Bills fan.  If the Bills were in the last two of three super bowls than whoever they had as a place kicked would have shanked those kicks and than they would have lost in overtime.  And what would I have to hope for than for the rest of the winter, a second round defeat in the playoffs for the Sabres?  Cause that would be really good for them.  Maybe, I can hope for the Rochest Red Wings, a triple A team, to have a winning season.  You have the best football team in the world and an awesome baseball team with the second highest payroll in sports and still you're going to cry about the Yankees being able to pull off the A-Rod trade because for some reason you're management finally decided to count pennies and nickels?  Get a life.  You're just as bad as billion dollar corporations whining about taxes being too high.  Boston fans getting so unbelievably upset over a Yankees move just shows me that the Yankees are in thier head.  If you're going to let some fat baseball dictator like Steinbrenner do this to you, the Red Socks are never going to beat the Yankees when it really matters.  Generally, I throw my support for Boston teams when I can.  I even wanted the Patriots to beat the Rams two years ago.  But I have no sympathy for a bunch of fans who have great teams but cry like a toddler who just lost their toy truck when one bad thing happens.

One last thing.  I do hope the Red Socks (or the Cubs) win the world series because I still hold onto my theory:  If the Red Socks (or the cubs) can win the world series, there is no reason that the Bills can't win the Super Bowl.
