Scott Norwood's New Best Friend - John Kasay
Charlie Brown would have done a better job
Back to Thoughts, Ideas and Theories
Finally, Scott Norwood, the kicker that shanked a field goal and ruined my life has company in the most unclutch kickers club.  John Kasay, in yesterdays super bowl did the worst possible thing imaginable for all the panther fans and Belichink haters out there.  He kicked the ball out of bounds giving Tom Brady awesome field position to move the Patriots into game winning field goal range.  But everyone knows that.  What I want to argue that Kasay's gaff was even larger than Norwoods.

A 47 yard field goal is tough.  It would have been a difficult kick even if the super bowl wasn't on the line.  But Kasay kicking it out of bounds?  Come on dude.  The field is huge - 120 yards long counting the end zones and 52 yards wide.  How in the world could he have managed to choke that bad on the most important kick in his life?  The only thing I can think of is if he completely missed the ball and fell flat on his ass.  At least that would have been funny.

For all the Panther fans out there, I want to say I feel for you but I can't.  You're team wheres teal.  Theres something wrong with you for liking them in the first place.  But to John Kasay, I want to say thank you on behalf of Scott Norwood.  While Norwood's missed field goal will still be remembered more, at least someone else finally fucked up enough to take some pressure off of him.  Some dude on the street will still come up to Norwood and say, "Hey, do you remember that missed field goal in super bowl XXV that ruined Zach Pike's Life?"  And he'll calmy reply, "At least I didn't kick the ball out of bounds like that douche Kasay."

**Side note - early in the game it looked like Vinateri was trying to take some of the stigma away from Norwood.  But as we have all learned in recent seasons, never expect anything out of New England to help the Bills.
