It's the major concert announcement of 2003:

If you're a kid.

Or the parent of a kid.

The Wiggles are coming!

The Wiggles, the world's No. 1 children's music act, will perform two shows Aug. 2 at Reliant Center. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. April 25 at the usual Ticketmaster locations.

I always give a warning when I think a concert will sell out fast. Make this a Code Red.

The Wiggles are four guys from Australia who perform with a dancing dinosaur, an octopus who doesn't dance so well (he's got four left feet) and a smart-alecky dog. They also travel with a friendly pirate named Captain Feathersword who tickles fans.

The Wiggles sing simple songs about washing your hands before dinner -- but they sound like the Beatles. Parents have no difficulty digging the Wiggles.

The Wiggles performed in Houston last year and sold out two concerts at H'Town's Arena Theatre in record time. The theater manager said the group could have sold out 10 more shows.

This time, the Wiggles will play the 8,000-seat Reliant Center. It's a bigger venue, but not so big that small fries can't see them.

The Wiggles's concerts will start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The early times are because there's a heavy metal Metallica concert that same night across the parking lot at Reliant Stadium. Stadium officials don't want a traffic jam.

Just a guess, but Metallica and the Wiggles probably attract different fans.
