Blue Wiggle’s wedding ‘a family affair’

Photo Gary Johnston “It was very much a simple family affair, and music was a big part of it,” says Paul Field, manager of children’s entertainment group, The Wiggles, about the wedding of his brother, Anthony. The blue Wiggle, who is 39, exchanged vows with his bride Michaela Patisteas, 31, in a nuptial Mass celebrated by Marist Fr Paul Glynn at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Kellyville. It is the parish in which the Field boys spent their teenage years, and where Anthony was involved in the music ministry years before hitting Wiggle stardom. Anthony’s mother, Marie Field, who remains an active parishioner at Kellyville arranged the flowers for the church. His brothers, Patrick, John and Paul, and close friend Alfonso Rinaldi were groomsmen. Michaela’s bridesmaids were her friends Andria Michael, Maria Kiapsis and Alkistis Cerassimou. Anthony’s niece, Clare Field, opened the ceremony with a dance down the aisle to the Irish tune, Haste to the Wedding. Younger family members formed a children’s procession and served as altar boys. Fellow Wiggles Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt played some music for the Mass, as did a string trio. Friends from Mexico, including Fernando Moguel, who has performed with the Wiggles, sang some of the Mass in Spanish and the Ave Maria. |
