Tune in to Wiggles for fun and giggles

FANS shrieked so loudly you couldn't hear the music. Audience members sat on each other's shoulders so they could see. The theater shook from feet stamping and hands clapping.

Even though extra police and security guards were hired, several love-struck girls climbed onstage to smooch the singer.

It was sheer pandemonium.

Sinatra in the '40s?

The Beatles in the '60s?

Ricky Martin in the '90s?

Nope. It was the Wiggles, the world's No. 1 children's act, tearing the house down last week at the H'Town Arena Theatre.

There is nothing funnier than a 250-pound policeman trying to stop a 3-year-old from hugging Captain Feathersword, the friendly pirate who tickles people.

The Australian band sold out two shows here and could have packed in five more. "We really love being in Houston," said Wiggles guitarist Anthony Field. "It took us 29 hours to fly from Australia to Houston, and four days to get here from the airport."

Everybody's a comedian.

In the audience were media power couple Lisa Baldwin and Steve Simon, plus Russell and Allison Molina of Molina's restaurants. And their screaming kids.
