The Wiggles and their friends, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog                                                                        and Henry the Octopus, together with Captain Feathersword, the tickly                                                                  pirate, have been providing an extravaganza of colour, fun and music                                                                           especially for little people since they first teamed up nearly a decade ago.

                                                                 Affectionately known as the
“Fab 4 for the under 5s”, THE WIGGLES                                                                        have become a household name in Australia, where one in every two                                                                            toddlers sings along to a Wiggles CD or video, or has been to a Wiggles                                                                      concert and where, this summer, they performed live in front of 60,000                                                                         children at the Sydney Olympics’ Stadium, Australia.

‘It’s a Wiggly Wiggly World’ UK Tour

In 1999
THE WIGGLES made their first trips to the UK for a series of sell-out theatre shows supported by a Saturday morning TV series on GMTV. Now - to coincide with the release of the video “It’s a Wiggly Wiggly World”, which features brand new songs including a duet with Rolf Harris - the “Giants of toddler rock” (Daily Telegraph) are back with their unique blend of educational entertainment; a wiggly wiggly world of song and dance that will appeal to pre-school children (and “big kids”) everywhere.
There’s a world of difference singing “She’s the one” and “Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy”!

So, will they go on and on, like the Rolling Stones, playing for the children of their original fans?     “We could do. To a child, all adults are old.“ says Murray.  “They can’t tell the difference between a 30-year old and a 50-year old.”

The ‘Fab four for the under 5s’ first teamed up almost a decade ago, and since then have been entertaining literally thousands of pre-school children with their unique blend of entertainment: catchy sing-along songs, simple dance routines and outrageous acting.

From pub rock to toddler rock, The Wiggles boast an unusual rise to fame – their success lies in playing to small audiences, rather than big ones – small, that is, in terms of the size of the average audience member. In the beginning, there were Anthony, Greg and Jeff, who, together with Anthony’s brother, Paul, were the Cockroaches, a successful pub rock band, playing in front of many appreciative grown-ups. At the height of their career, Anthony and Greg put their music on hold in order to take up places at teacher training college in Sydney. There they met Murray and, having written children’s songs as part of their course, the three quickly recognised their talent for performing to a much younger audience. Spurred on by the success of their first foray into the world of children’s entertainment, Anthony recruited Cockroaches’ keyboard player, Jeff, to help them record a tape of rock ‘n’ roll songs for kids. It was released in 1991 and The Wiggles were born. They haven’t looked back since.

Almost a decade later and The Wiggles are still putting their teacher training to good use. With the help of
Captain Feathersword, the friendly pirate, and their animal friends, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, and Dorothy the Dinosaur, the most loveable dinosaur in all the world, The Wiggles create a Wiggly Wiggly World of dancing and music, which is often educational, (promoting wholesome values like sharing and friendship), but always fun – a unique blend of entertainment that is sure to delight young children and their parents alike.
