Piper is a 5 year old dog bred by Rita Koy of Majestic Joy Papillons. Piper showed early talent for obedience and agility, and also picked up his first two points towards his AKC Championship his first time in the ring at 6 months of age. He began showing in performance events in 2002, and since that time has earned the titles of AKC CH, CD, CDX, UD, NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ, MX, and MXJ; UKC CD (including a high in trial) and ASCA CD, as well as passing the AKC CGC test and the ATTS temperment test. Piper has many High Scoring Toy and Papillon awards (and many near miss HIT attempts), and was the recipient of the Diane Bluemenaur award from the Evansville Obedience Club for having the highest average obedience score in both 2002 and 2003. In 2003 I was especially touched when Piper and I were awarded the EOC Dog and Handler Team award. Piper is the first dog in the Evansville area to have the titles of CH/UD/MX/MXJ. I am most proud, however, of the day that Piper finished his AKC CH as we also showed in Open B that day. After receiving Winner's Dog for that final elusive major, Piper was called back to the Open B ring for a run-off. That day we were in the breed ring, the obedience ring, and back to the breed ring (where he took Best of Opposite) within a 15 minute time frame. To top off the day, Piper won that run-off for a placement in a very competitive class.
Piper and I are currently working towards the MACH and have plans to return to the obedience ring in the Fall of 2005. Of the dogs I have trained Piper is certainly the most enthusiastic as he loves to be the center of his mom's attention no matter what venue we are participating in. Although he is rarely still when awake, most nights he sleeps cuddled up under my arm. I look forward to many more years of partnership with my little doodlybug. |
