Welcome to MHES!
I am very excited to be working at Mars Hill Elementary. Since coming to Mars Hill, I have been working on getting to know the students, staff, and families of MHES and I know that together we will establish a strong foundation of lifelong learning for all of our students.
Before coming to MHES, I taught Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 at Madison High School. I have been teaching in Madison County since 1994, beginning my career at Madison Middle, teaching 7th and 8th grade math. I feel as though I have come home, since I attended Mars Hill Elementary from Kindergarten through the 8th grade. I am very excited to be back at Mars Hill and hope I can give back to the school and the community as much as was given to me when I was a student.
I also graduated from Madison High and Mars Hill College. I received my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from East Tennessee State University in 2003 and am currently enrolled in the Educational Doctoral program at ETSU.
When I am not at school, I love to hike, camp, read, and play golf. I am also an avid ice hockey fan, pulling for the Asheville Aces and the Carolina Hurricanes. I have a dog named Baby and a cat named Ozzy.
My favorite part of being an Assistant Principal is spending time with the students. Everyday, I look forward to seeing their smiling faces and hearing their laughter in the hallways.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful year achieving as learners and succeeding as people. Please let me know how I can be of help to you!
