THE LATEST NEWS
Well, lots of things going on, so what else is new??? Abby finished up the year (2008) number four collie in the nation and April finished up number 10. This is UKC rankings. How fun was this to have two in the top ten
I went for new glasses and my cataracts had gotten so bad that surgery was almost mandatory. I am awaiting a date for my right eye to be done. They only do one eye at a time so it will take a while to get this accomplished. In the meantime my sight had gotten so bad that I decided not to drive until the surgery was done and new glasses secured. This being the case, it was time for Jen to take the bull by the horns and learn to drive, which she has done. She now has her license and we are mobil once again. A big thanks goes to friends and neighbors who not only took us where we needed to go but spent hours with her giving her practice behind the wheel.
Am taking a real estate course as my license is up for renewal in May and we have to take a 45 hour course every time we come up for renewal. Jen starts her new semester in about two weeks and that will bring her one step closer to getting her degrees.
Alexandra is great. I love this age. I think kids should be born two years old cause from then on it is just plain fun. She is a crackerjack and thinks she can do just about anything and everything. She is practicing showing with Mariah and we are hoping that this year we will be able to put her in junior handling without her panicking like she did last year. Thank goodness the judge was Susan Nikkel who is great with kids and very under standing.
We have four grown cats that have moved in from somewhere. They won't let us get ahold of them but we are feeding them and providing shelter so they aren't in any hurry to leave, The female had a litter of kittens in the stationwagon, oh joy, and we brought the kittens in as soon as they were weaned so we have some additions to the crew. And, doggone it, she looks pregnant again. If we could just catch her we would take her to be spayed even if we turned her loose outsdie again afterward.
We lost Johnny, Ch Gemstar's Teybar Johnny Angel CGC, OFA, CERF, TDI about a month ago. It was just his time as he was almost sixteen. And being the gentleman he always was, he just didn't wake up one morning. I had been watching him closely knowing the time was coming and dreading the decision. John took the decision out of my hands. It is always hard to lose one but at least he lived a good long life and certainly gave me many fond memories.
Wow, where does the time go and where oh where have I been that I haven't done any posting in so very long. All is well here. Am working the Mary Kay and Dragonfyre, studying for my broker's license and basically kicking back for the summer. I don't do well in the heat and it is horribly hot already this summer. We did show Abby, April and Bronson at the May shows. Bron still needs a major to finish his UKC Championship. April took one Breed and group placement and Abby just kicked everyone else's butt and finished her Championship with three best of breeds and group placements to go along with it. She is number one Collie in the nation right now and April is number five.
Jen took the summer off from college as they weren't offering anything she needed.
I have joined TOPS as I just have to lose this weight that I have piled on since I started taking prednisone. It sure helps my arthritis but it is Hell on weight gain. So far I have lost five pounds and am doing a little bit of strength building exercising. I really, really want to do so many things and until I can get myself back into some semblence of health and strength it isn't going to happen. Am reading a GREAT book on Focus and it seems to be really helping me.
Alex is wonderful and scary smart at times. She is even helping with dog chores already and is a horse fanatic. Hmmmm, maybe I finally have my "horsey" kid?
