UWEC Blugold Women's Hockey
Win 10-1 over Hamline University
January 5, 2005
Hobbs Ice Arena, Eau Claire
Lots of action on the ice between the Blugold women and Hamline University.  The Blugolds have been steadily improving over the past three years that I've been watching them.  This was by far the most exciting game I've seen them play.  The Blugolds totally dominated Hamline and spent most of their time on offense.  You could tell that they were in "the zone" as the game began to look like a practice session...you could see them using established plays...give and gos...cycling down low...and so on.  All the gals got a chance to partake in the shooting match that the game became.  The Blugolds scored 10 goals (ties team record), including four in the second period by Theresa Guindon, a team record for a single period.  Amber Stevenson had five assists, another Blugold record.  The Blugolds outshot Hamline 70 to 9!!!  No, that's not a typo.  The Blugolds had 30 shots on goal in the second period alone.  They almost had the shutout, but Hamline scored their lone goal with less than a minute to go in the game. Too bad only 100 people or so saw this fabulous mid-week game.

Eau Claire applied pressure on the Hamline goalies all night long.
