The Blugold women got off to a fast start when Crystal Wasem scored just 23 seconds into the game. St. Mary's was a tougher opponent than Hamline was on Wednesday, but the Blugolds held St. Mary's scoreless with a 4-0 shutout. The Blugolds out-shot St. Mary's 30 to 15.
I wasn't alone at the game this time...one of my student assistants, Megan, joined me for the game. Hot beefs at Ray's beforehand...mmm...good! During the second intermission they had a "Chuck-a-Puck" contest. For a buck a puck, we had a chance to win prizes if we could throw our pucks onto the ice and have them land nearest the center dot. Well, I had two pucks and Megan had one, but none of our pucks went anywhere near the center. All of a sudden someone threw one out there and it appeared to bounce right on top of the t-shirt at center ice. As I began to walk to the concession stand...I suddenly did an about-face as they called my name as the winner! I had them double-check the results...but all I can figure is that someone's puck must have bumped mine into the center. Anyway, I won a t-shirt and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Cool! |
