Trick Tips |
The Ollie 1. Find a flat surface - a driveway, a smooth parking lot, a basketball court, a quite street - any smooth, flat surface will do. 2. Push a few times, so that you're rolling with moderate speed. (the faster you're traveling when you ollie, the farther you will go. Physics? Yep.) 3. As you're rolling, position the ball of your back foot on the tail, and place your front foot in the middle of the board. 4. Bend your knees 5. Here's where the trick is: You must simultaneously (at the same time) smack the tail on the ground, jump, and slide your front foot up the deck. (smacking your tail allows the front of the board to raise up off the ground, jumping allows your body to break the confines of gravity, and sliding your front foot up the board allows the deck to level out, thus raising the back of the board from the ground.) Sound simple? Well, it's not at first. But, practice makes perfect. 6. Stay over the board. At the peak of your ollie you should be centered on the board, your knees bent again ready for landing. 7. Important note: keep your shoulders in line with the direction you're travelling. (the ollie requires you keep shoulders in line, or will certainly lose balance.) 8. When you land, keep your knees bent to absorb the impact with the ground. (this will save your lower back.) 9. Upon landing, your back foot should be on the tail, though slightly closer to the back truck bolts (so as not to break the tail), and your front foot should be directly over the front bolts. |
Nose Manual 1. For this trick, all you need to do is be able to balance on your front two wheels. 2. Approach the obstacle you're going to nose-manual on at top speed 3. Snap the tail and ollie; this will enable you to get up on the terrain. 4. While ollieing, lean forward so you land on the front two wheels, so just roll with it. 5. You've landed on the front two wheels, so just roll with it. 6. When you want to come off, nudge your body forward a little - kind of like you're doing a nollie. 7. Land back on the ground with all four wheels down, and ride away. |
The Manual 1. Go as fast as you can toward the obstacle that you're going to do the manual on. 2. Adjust your feet the way you want. I like my front foot in the middle of my board and my back foot on the very tip of the tail. 3. Ollie up, and land on the back wheels. 4. Once you're up there, rest the majority of your weight on your back foot; this will help you get more balance. 5. Ride it out, then drop off. 6. Destroy as much property as you can. We don't have much time. |
Kickflip Making the board do a 360 revolution longways 1. Place your back foot on the tail with your heal hanging off the edge (the heal hangs off the edge so that when you kick down, then flip the board it will spin easily) and your front foot just off to the side of the front deck bolts (so your heal will be hanging off the edge) 2. Kick down on the tail and almost at the same time slide your front foot up, and off the front of the left side of the deck. Your board will now be in the motion of spinning. 3. Now bring your feet back over the board and when you see the grip tape push your feet down and catch the board. 4. Land the bitch and ride away! TIP: When trying to learn Kickflip's most people find that they can land their back foot on the board but there front foot is miles away. Practice kicking down with your back foot then letting it slip off the back of the board onto the ground then kick out your front foot like in step (2) and only try to land your front foot on the board. Practice this heaps then try it the normal way again and you'll find that your much much closer to landing it! |
Heelflip Making the board do a 360 revolution long ways and the opposite way to a kickflip. 1. Place your front foot in the kick flip position and back foot with your toes hanging over the edge of the tail. 2. Kick down on the tail and almost at the same time slide your front foot up and off the board like you would do a kick flip. Because your toes were hanging off the edge of the tail, STEP (1) the board will go straight up into the air then the board will turn over and come back down, so when you do the trick jump really high so the board will go under and trew your legs. 3. When you spot the grip tape as the board comes down catch it with your feet and land. |
Pop Shuvit Making the board spin 180 degrees 1) Place your back foot on the tail with your heal hanging off the edge (It is very important to do this with the pop-shuvit), and your front foot in the middle of the board. 2) kick down on tha tail and just as it hits the ground kick your foot back behind your arse (this will cause the board to spin) let the board pivot on your front foot as it spins. 3) When the board has spun 180 degree's catch it with your feet and land. |
