Mania....... Thousands of thoughts Winking in my mind like lights on the facets of crystal.... Fleeting yet horribly persistent |
Symptoms Of Mania * Heightened mood, exagerrated optimism and self confidence * Decreased need for sleep without fatigue * Grandiose delusions, inflated sense of self importance * Excessive irritability, aggressive behavior * Increased physical, mental activity * Racing speech, flight of ideas, impulsiveness * Poor judgement, easily distracted * Reckless behavior * In the most severe cases, auditory hallucinations |
Manic Depression differs significantly from clinical depression. In manic-depressive illness, a person's mood alternates between mania and depression. The mood swing can last for days, weeks, or even months. It is important to inform your physician of all mood swings, past or present, so a correct diagnosis can be made. Anyone experiencing four or more of the above symptoms of either or both depression or mania should seek help from a medical professional if symptoms persist for longer than 2 weeks |

Update: I for Social Security Disability in April 2000 and it was finally approved in Nov. 2000. I have not been working on this site very much because this is a trying time for me. I went from being employed full time, going to school, and taking care of 2 kids to being at home all the time, no money to take my kids anywhere and feeling very trapped. Adjusting to this is very hard, and I urge those of you who have relatives going through this to be aware of these self esteem issues when a person loses their career and their dreams and must find new ones to strive for. It is a very painful time. Please forgive my inattention to this site and I will be back to work on it again. Zoe |
