Cast of Characters: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
IMPORTANT NOTE: The screen captures shown below were created by me and thus I would like to establish some ground rules for their use and viewing. -DO NOT link directly to the images on my website, it steals from my transfer rate. For those of you who are not familiar with Geocities; you only have 4 GB of transfer every month. If the images are directly linked I wont have any transfer left and the site will be 'turned off' by yahoo. So if you want them you have to upload them to your own server. -DO NOT use my captures without giving me proper credit. It takes me a long time to get all the captures, put them in proper format, and adjust for viewing. Not to mention that I am paying for the use of a DVD screen capture program. So if you use them, put a link to my site or list my name with them. -PLEASE follow the above rules, or i will have to remove the images from this site. A text only site is a boring thing to see. ~Thanks! [By viewing the images below you are agreeing to the above stated terms] |

Charles B. Barkin (Charlie)
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Charlie was born on September 13, 1937. The son of Burt R. Barkin and Loni A. Bowzer. (you think im making this up? its in the first movie....!). He is mostly german shepard but also part collie, part great dane, and part retreiver. In short: He's a bit of a mutt. The protagonist of the film, he is a streetwise gambler, pickpocketer, and an all around con artist. These qualities don't exactly lend themselves to heroism, but his development throughtout the film shows how his character changes from criminal to caring. He tends to be a bit greedy with a strong love of life, but his soft heart generally leads him in the right direction.
Itchy Itchiford (Itchy)
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Charlie's best friend and sidekick is a dachshund with a nervous tic that causes him to itch. He serves to be Charlie's guidance and support. More business-minded and focused than Charlie, he tries to keep him on task but is never able to break the mindset of his german shepard counterpart. Throughout the film Itchy is in constant disagreement with Charlie over their 'rescuing' of Anne-Marie.
Anne-Marie | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Anne-Marie is the tool with which director Don Bluth impliments Charlie's character development. Anne-Marie is an orphan who Carface keeps captive due to her ability to talk to animals. Carface used her to rig the races at his casino in his favor. Charlie rescues her and likewise, uses her talent for his own personal gain, but he later realizes that companionship is much more important than wealth. She is later adopted by a upper class couple (Harold and Kate).
Carface | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The story's antagonist is a bulldog named Carface. Generally speaking he is evil and malicious. He tries to kill Charlie at least 3 times in the film (and is successful once) all just so he can keep all the profits from his and Charlie's former business.
Killer | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Killer is generally used as a multi-purpose criminal element in the film. He is Carface's loyal sidekick. Killer is alawys ready to do Carfaces dirty work but never seems to gain his respect. He is not malicious like his boss, but willing to follow whatever orders are given to him. Killer has a change of heart in the final portion of the film, where he helps Anne-Marie to the shore.
Flo (Left side of picture)
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Flo is a collie who (I'm assuming) is the mother of a litter of pups that Charlie had fathered. She is only a supporting character and appears late in the film. She and Charlie appear to be an old flame of some sort but their relationship is never deeply developed or explained. It can best be described as her being Charlie's girlfriend.
[The] Whippet Angel (Right side of picture)
![]() |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Whippet Angel (no name given in first movie) appears for only 4 min. and is only shown to be a supporting (static) character. The only reason that I have given mention to her here is due to her re-occuring role in the second movie and the TV series where she is introduced to be Annabelle.
