Merchandise from Balto
NOT FOR SALE, ONLY A GUIDE
Balto - DVD
Difficult to find. Not really stocked at many retail store locations anymore. Best Buy, Target, and WalMart do not carry it any longer. The only retail location I know that carries it is Suncoast Video. Your best bet is to get it online. The DVD is expensive when compared to the ones for ADGTH  but its quality is obvioulsy superior. Generally it will cost you about $22.00 new. Used copies can be obtained for about $12.00. The DVD is very nicely done. The picture and sound integrety is excellent, not a trace of cel shifting or film grain to be had. The DVD is dual layer and presented in the standard 1:33:1 fullscreen ratio. You have you choice between English, French, or Spanish audio and you also get English subtitles. It comes with DVD-ROM features,  as well as production notes, cast and filmmaker's bios, film highlights, the original theatrical trailer, and a rather easy to play "Wheres The Dog Sled Team" game. Well worth the money!
Balto - VHS
No longer stocked in any retailed stores. The VHS can be bought online new for about $14.00. Used copies can be had for about $6.00. Not much to say about it since its only a VHS and dosn't have any extra features. One thing to note is how the cover art changed from the VHS to the DVD.
Balto - VCD/Video CD
A rare find. Video CD's are playable on computers and on some DVD players. They basically have the entire movie saved to a CD in MPEG format. I have only seen these occasionally and they can be had for about $6.00 to $9.00.
Balto - Soundtrack CD
No longer stocked in stores, but not difficult to find. The original soundtrack features 13 tracks total. 11 tracks are of instrumental music and 2 tracks are of vocal music. The soundtrack is wonderfully composed and performed. Produced by MCA, these can usually be bought used and new for about $13.00.
There was also a CD Single available for "Reach For The Light" (the title theme). A bit harder to find but usally obtainable for about $3.00.
Balto - Books/Novelizations
Books and Movie Novelizations were in abundance for Balto. The most common were:
Balto: The Junior Novelization
Balto: The Movie Storybook
Balto Beware!
Balto the Hero
all of them are out of print and no longer stocked at any stores. Some are difficult to obtain and some can be had readily. Most prices for new and used editions usually range from $0.01 to $5.00.
Balto - Stuffed Animals (Plushies)
There were 5 stuffed animals that were sold when the movie was released. They were:
Sitting Balto
Sitting Jenna
Laying down Balto
Laying down Jenna
Sitting Muk
The Balto and Jenna plushies were all about 20 inches long or tall. Jenna came with a yellow/orange bandana around her neck. The Muk plushie is much smaller. These can be found used for anywhere from $1.00 to $15.00 depending on condition. I have never seen new ones for sale. Sorry, no picture (as soon as i find one I will post it).
Balto - Toys/Figures
Given away by Hardees in their kids meals. I don't have any informaion or pictures for this item, as I have never seen it being sold. Will post new information and pictures as soon as I can locate them.
Balto - Movie Posters
These can still be found at some online and retail locations. Used and new they can be had for about $6.00 to $10.00.
Balto - Production Art (Cels & Drawings)
I have never seen any production cels for sale from Balto. Most production art for sale from Balto are storyboard drawings. These drawings are 8" x 4" sized drafts that are used in the planning stage. They can be had for anywhere from $10.00 to $20.00. I know there are production cels out there somewhere and I'm sure they range in price from $20.00 to over $230.00. As with any production art, research to ensure its authenticity!
