Dark Side

FaQ

” The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil Men. Blessed is he who, in the Name of charity and good will, Shepherds the weak through the Valley of darkness, for he is truly His brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great Vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my Name is the Lord when I lay my Vengeance upon you.”

-Ezekiel 25:17

In other words…Big Brother is Watching.

· The Dark Side setting is an upscale nightclub in modern day Chicago.

· The club is near the heart of the city, with ample parking areas for both cars, and motorcycles. Be forewarned, the club does have metal detectors. Weapons are not allowed in the club, unless the character has the right permits. And a reason to carry them. This is subject to being asked to leave the room if not given reason enough to carry the weapons. Weapons can be in the characters car, bike, or whatever. Just not in the club. Any weapons are taken when they enter, tagged, and given back when you leave.

· There are offices and dressing rooms upstairs, for those who are employees, or musicians.

· There is a stage area for any who want to rp a band or performer.

· There are NO barmaids, only waiters, waitresses and bartendera.

· This is a modern day room. Please, no D&D characters, or any other medieval type of characters. World of Darkness characters are allowed. All kinds. If it was made by World of Darkness, its allowed. Please, follow this. Remember. Modern Day. Oh, and on a side note, the Dark Side can not be destroyed. At all.

· NO LAME CHARS. See the following rules for descriptions of what qualifies.

· System players, please, keep stats in pmland as much as possible. This is NOT a system room and posting stats confuses and distracts other players.

· Any OOC fighting may result in you being booted out of the room for the night, this is for fun and that crap you can do elsewhere.

· If you have to argue about IC things OOC keep it in pm land, don't interrupt other people's RP with it.

· Any sexual encounters MUST be approved by all parties ahead of time.

· Please do all cybering in pm land unless it is very vague part of the role-play, any public cybering will result in you being asked to leave.

· No details of raping characters shall be posted in public, in private ask the partner first if they want details.

· Any threatening and harassing other people or other people's characters OOC will not be tolerated unless both sides are comfortable with it. While banter between characters is a part of roleplay, insulting other players is not.

· Private roleplays should be done in private areas. However, should your character not be in the immediate area, please inform new arrivals of this when they come in, so that interaction between them and you does not become a problem.

· No whining. I know its hard sometimes.

· Pressuring or trying to control roleplay will not be tolerated either.

· IC sexual harrassment of characters should be done in a reasonable manner. If you are asked to stop, do so. Be courteous of other roleplayers. Failure to comply will result in your being asked to leave.

· Fights do happen, characters do die. Check the Battle Arena Rules. That's all a part of roleplaying. No one likes losing their characters. This FAQ has been updated and I've lost a character here and she's not coming back, she's legally dead. Chances are that I will lose others. If your character gets killed here, then I hope you have the common decency not to bring it back. There are limited methods in which a character may be revived. These are not common, and are invariably difficult. If you are found to be playing an illegal resurrection, then you will be asked to leave. Each case will be judged separately. And do not think you’re the only person who looses characters. Everyone does. Its just a part of the game.

· Problems must be handled by emailing the room moderator, you must submit the posts that you are complaining about, otherwise it's one person's word against another's. If you cannot get the posts from the room then let me have the person's handle number and tell me why you cannot get the particular posts. Also, you may use the following contacts: ICQ: 13761424 MSN or Email: ethynfrost@hotmail.com.

· Lastly, this is for fun, it is not life and death and if you sit there and try to make others miserable then I'll ask you to leave the room. This should clear things up:

Newbie:

One unfamiliar with the rules of conduct in a roleplay setting, which can be either to a particular system that they are playing, to roleplaying in general, to a particular portion of roleplay's scope, or to the room in which they are roleplaying.

Application examples: A Newbie to rolefighting, a Newbie to the Highlands Mist, a Newbie to White Wolf, or a Newbie to Chatalot. Realistically, most Lamers are actually Newbies, a distinction that the Slayers find to be a great relief. While most people view them as synonymous, they are, in actuality, not, though their behaviour is often very similar. When confronted about their actions, a Newbie will almost always answer something along the lines of, "Rules? There are rules? Where? Can you help me?" This, needless to say, saves us a lot of trouble, and we greatly appreciate having contact with Newbies instead of Lamers. Newbies are merely unaware of the rules of the game, but usually are very willing to learn them once they are made aware that they exist.

And for all those new to this, don’t be afraid to ask. If you don’t ask, you don’t learn. If noone answeres your questions, contact me, and I’ll do what I can. If I don’t have the answeres to what you need, I’ll find someone who does.

Lamer:

One who knows of the rules' existance, and perhaps even knows them well, but chooses to completely ignore them on an almost constant basis.

"Lamer" is actually the low end of a string of grey areas in roleplaying quality, indicating the worst possible quality. Many people ignore rules on an infrequent basis; very few people follow all of the rules all of the time. Breaking the rules on occasion, and in small ways, can actually better the roleplay for everyone involved. For example, breaking a rule resulting in allowing a character that you might have otherwise killed to live can be a beneficial rule breakage.

However, breaking the rules constantly and blatantly results in problems for all involved. This frustrates other players and earns a very bad reputation for the Lamer.

As a general rule, Lamers, when confronted, tend to first try to bluff their way out of it. If a person is not familiar with the rules, perhaps being a Newbie, Lamers can get away with this, but those who know the rules will spot the huge holes in the Lamer's argument without much trouble. An example of this behaviour would be arguing about damage on a one-post kill. Following this stage, if still pressed, the Lamer usually tends to try to humor the person confronting them, and gloss over the entire incident. This can take the form of "Yeah, well, so I can't have a sword of Godly Might that can cleave the planet into julienne fries... I'll change it after this fight, since we already started it."

When pressed about this or other matters, however, the Lamer reveals his or her true nature, and simply goes into a temper tantrum. An example would be, "I don't care about any stupid rules! I can have my sword! My character's the devil himself, who's been vampirized and turned into an angelic elf!"

At this point, they usually storm out of the room (but hardly ever out of Chatalot, unfortunately).

Now, clarification:

There are cases in which ultrapowered characters (for example, gods and goddesses) can be legal in play. However, one playing such characters must realize that those types of characters are even more difficult to play because they MUST adhere to the rules closer than other types of characters. Examples of ultrapowered characters:

-Any vampire older than 750 years.

-Any vampire of 7th or lower generation in White Wolf.

-ANY Mage (White Wolf) with any three spheres of four or better. (In this system, Mages are capable of literally anything, as long as they're willing to have Reality turn them into a fine red mist when it snaps back into place.)

-Any character claiming to be a descendant of a deity.

-Any character claiming to be a deity.

-Any character claiming to have killed a deity.

-The above are not the only ones, merely examples.

And a Special thankyou to Maurkus.

For without him, none of this would have been possible.

Without him, we would be lost.
