Math 8
Our Main Goal this year is Preparation for Algebra 1.

We will also cover important topics which you will see on the
Ohio Graduation Test.

In our study of
Data Analysis, you will be required to do more than just read or create various graphs.  You may have to use the graphs to make conjectures about what may have happened to cause the graph to be shaped a certain way, or predict from the graph what may happen in the future.

You will have to become proficient in the
operations of fractions and decimals, not because you will have to compute by hand, but because you will be asked to explain the process.

We will study
measurement units and when it may be appropriate to measure some capacity using certain metric or standard units.  You will have to make conversions such as:  If you can run 100 yards in 15 sec, how fast can you run in miles per hour?

And we will be prepared to be successful in Algebra, by learning how to and the concept behind solving equations and inequalities.
Line graphs like this are used people every day with millions of dollars on the line.
