Meesch @ Kent County Cricket Club, Website
| Welcome to the Will House for England Campaign Website
Back in the late 90s, Kent County Cricket Club had within its' ranks a player called Will House. He was a middle order batsman who was often used as an all rounder and enjoyed moderate success on the county circuit. Back in the late 90s, Kent County Cricket Club had within its' ranks of supporters a girl called Meesch (me). I was only relatively new to cricket (1995) but I recognised raw talent when I saw it. And when it came to Will House I saw it in abundance. I remained convinced that Will was the man to save English cricket from the rut into which it had sunk. Don't forget, 1999 was the year when the national side surrendered at home to those giants of world cricket, the New Zealand Black Caps. English cricket was at its' nadir. Something had to be done. And so began the "Will House for England" campaign that you now see today in full effect. The Channel4/Cricinfo cricket site's forum (now cricket4) appeared to be the ideal medium for me to get my message across. This forum has contributors from all over the world and soon the message that Will was the man had reached as far as Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Johannesburg, Bermuda, Pakistan, India, Barnsley, London, Somerset. . . . . I began to get noticed and my one woman crusade began to attract global attention. Even the news that Will had moved across to the other side of the River Rother to join the ranks of Sussex County Cricket Club did not deflect me from my task. I continue to follow his career religiously and cannot be changed in my views. Gradually I began to lure adherents to my cause. Despite still never having seen him play, Stu (co-producer of this website), began to believe and thus from this small acorn of hope grew the now unstoppable force that will one day see Will House receive the international recognition his talent deserves. This website is our genuine tribute to Will House. At the time of writing he is languishing in the Sussex 2nd XI, but we know this is only a temporary setback and that he will yet force his way into the national consciousness. He is a true professional and we both wish him all the luck in the world as he strives to make his way to the top of the tree. We know you can do it, Will. Say it once, say it loud. . . . . .
