Consultations in Preservation and Special Environments for Buildings
Garrison/Lull Inc. consults in programming and management to assist museums, libraries and archival records facilities in planning better environments for collections.  Based on a background in building systems and considerable experience with such institutions, Garrison/Lull works with the institution to develop, articulate, document and manage improved environments and space for collections.  These services are intended to allow the institution to receive the maximum value from the services of architects, engineers and other professionals by bridging the gap between collections needs and construction.  This is achieved through a tempering and expression of the space needs and conservation goals in the language and disciplines understood by the institution's architect, engineer and facilities management personnel.
Special emphasis can be provided on programmatic issues concerning water intrusion control, vapor tolerance of building envelopes, gaseous contamination control and testing, humidity control, energy management and value engineering.
The issues addressed relate to the merits, quality and maintainability of the collection environment established by the relevant building systems, including heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, architecture, space layout, building envelope and glazing. Plumbing and other systems are addressed as they protect or present a risk to the collection.
