So sad that the air and light pollution in Hong Kong are getting severe and severe recent years. Even we went to countryside, the sky was not dark enough for wide field astrophotography most of the time. So as to have quality star field photos, the only way we can do is to image abroad.
Though DSLRs become very popularly used in astrophotography nowadays, to show the richness of colour in wide field images, especially for milky way, I would still prefer capturing with films, in spite of some enhancement of H-alpha light response having been made in some modified DSLRs.
Among those emulsions still available in the market, I think Kodak E200S slide film is the best one for shooting our milky way.
Most of the images shown in this page were taken with E200S and Fuji Provia 400F professional slides in Australia. They were scanned by Epson flatbed scanner 4990 and processed with Level & Curve stretching on ONE single frame only in Photoshop. No flat field or layer mask techniques were applied as I don't know these skills. Once I obtain these skills, these images will be re-processed, and I am sure they will be presented in much better looking.
There are some original film images not scanned and processed yet. When I have time to do so, I will put them onto my page. Please check for them more frequently.
If you like some of them, which are coded with a number, you may send me emails for more details.
