My number one love is flying. My father started teaching me how to fly when I was practically a baby. We would go flying together almost every weekend. I got my first pilot’s license when I was 16 years old (even before I got my driver’s license). After high school I joined the Navy and spent four years working on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier Enterprise. When I got out of the Navy I immediately resumed my flight training using the GI Bill and worked my way up to an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license. I was a professional pilot for many years flying swordfish spotting, charter, corporate, and most recently as a mapping pilot. As of 1995 I quit flying for a living and have been working for the City of Los Angeles as Superintendent of Operations for Los Angeles International Airport. For the last few years I have been getting my flying fix with my Quicksilver MXL II ultralight aircraft. I love flying that thing! I call it my flying beach chair! Flying will always be the most important part of my life! |
