What a wonderfull site! A lot of helpfull stuff in the very thurogh bios section. Greetings from Cincinnati, home to Gigi & the Charmaines and the Teardrops, as well as Gloria Jones. I live for record collecting, mostly in the Northern Soul vein, and it's nice to see a project carried out with obvious passion.

You must be commended on a very fine website. I enjoyed reading the biographies of the many great girl groups. Reading about and listening to the likes of the Chiffons, Shirelles, Shangri Las, Angels, Ronettes, Pixies Three and Darlene Love(Blossoms and C ystals) sure brings back many fond and happy memories. Thanks Will for keeping the memories alive from Ron a big "girl group" fanatic.

Kind of wondering something here... Am I some kind of freak? I'm male, 23, straight, and I have a serious Girl Group addiction... Does anyone know of anyone else like me? Just let me know. Would be interesting. And those of you wizened, experienced, and blessed sages who saw the thing unfold and go BOOM...and could find the time...I have some questions: * Is there a good Shangs Biography available for purchase anywhere? * How do you people get your hands on Honeys stuff? Really, HOW? In general, if you could help me out in anyway (I'm looking for a seriously prolonged and expanded indulgence here... that or rehab...) with ANYTHING to do with the music that saves my life every day... please drop me a line... Thanks for the site. Nice work. I'd love to write for it. But I don't know what I'd throw together. Any suggestions?

A few things to add to "The Cookies" bio. While looking at the liner notes of "Atlantic Rhythm & Blues, Vol. 3", I found that the group came together in 1954 under the direction of the late Jesse Stone. With a lineup of Margie Hendricks, Ethel "Earl-Jea " McRea (McRee), and Doretta (Dorothy?) Jones, they scored an R&B chart hit in 1956 with "In Paradise". Afterwards, they became in-demand session singers for Atlantic, providing background on such hits as Joe Turner's "Corinne, Corrina" and "Lipstick, Po der & Paint", Chuck Willis' "It's Too Late", and most notably, Ray Charles. Charles, after the success of "Drown In My Own Tears" and "Lonely Avenue", evidently liked their work so much that he hired the group and rename them The Raelets, although eviden ly, only Hendricks and Pat Lyles made the switch. Regarding the Cookies-Cinderellas connection, I was looking through one of Jerry Osborne's record pricing guides, and glanced at some of the Cinderellas records. It was noted that Margaret Ross was listed as a member of this group, which would certa nly make it more than likely that the Cookies and The Cinderellas (at least the group that recorded on Dimension) were practically one and the same. There's no doubt that it's Dorothy Jones singing lead on "Baby Baby (I Still Love You)"/"Please Don't Wak Me". If it isn't, it was someone who sounded like her.

Happened upon your site yesterday, and found it to be terrific! The bios were quite informative and helpful for me. I especially found the bio of The Cookies quite interesting. I didn't consider a connection between them and The Cinderellas until you m ntioned Dorothy Jones doing the lead on "I Never Dreamed". Having heard the stunning Cinderellas cuts "Baby Baby (I Still Love You)" and "Please Don't Wake Me", it was in the back of my mind that the lead voices sounded awfully similar. Upon further lis ening to "I Never Dreamed" and "Baby Baby", the background voices sounded similar as well. After trying to ascertain just who the Cinderellas were, I tend to believe that they were the Cookies, or perhaps Carole King and some other session singers. If a yone else can shed some more light to the Cookies-Cinderellas connection, I'd certainly appreciate it. Incidentally, I'm hoping that you add groups such as the Girlfriends (who did the best Spector influenced girl group record ever with their "My One And Only, Jimmy Boy" on Colpix in 1963), Shirley Gunter & the Queens (the very first black girl group o make the charts with "Oop Shoop" in 1954), Baby Jane & the Rockabyes, The Lovelites (who did the wonderfully ahead of its time "How Can I Tell My Mom And Dad" in 1969), and Shirley Mathews and the Big Town Girls (who did the fabulous "Big Town Boy"). Keep up the great work!
