Girl Group Chronicles: The Three Bells
Jean Bell, and twins Carol and Sue Bell were a top girl group in Britain during the mid sixties, recording for Pye, Columbia, Decca, and CBS labels, and having a few hits a long the way. The group is best recalled for "Softly In The Night," a Goffin/King ditty orginally done by the Cookies, "Da Di Da Da," also a hit for France Gall, and "He Doesn’t Love Me," also recorded by the Breakaways.
The group was quite a sensation in Great Britain for a couple of years under a variety of names, including the Bells, the Three Bells, and later the Satin Bells. Although they never quite achieved lasting fame, Brit girl collectors highly regard their material, and as session singers they managed to appear on several big songs on the other side of the pond.
