| Date Spotted: April 8, 2003 Time: Approx 12:30 PM EST City/State: Philadelphia, PA Where: Acela Express from NY to Philadelphia I didn't actually see Bill Cosby, but I did see his autograph. I was waiting to get off the train and the conductor was just about to bust wanting to tell me Bill Cosby was on the train. He had Bill's ticket stub, with autograph. The conductor called him, "One of the all-time greats." I agree. His web site, www.billcosby.com, doesn't lack for modesty. Here are the first three paragraphs: "Bill Cosby is, by any standards, one of the most influential stars in America today. Whether it be through concert appearances or recordings, television or films, commercials or education, Bill Cosby has the ability to touch people’s lives. His humor often centers on the basic cornerstones of our existence, seeking to provide an insight into our roles as parents, children, family members, and men and women. Without resorting to gimmickry or lowbrow humor, Bill Cosby’s comedy has a point of reference and respect for the trappings and traditions of the great American humorists such as Charlie Chaplin, Will Rogers, W.C. Fields and Groucho Marx." OK, anyone who puts himself in with the all-time greats, maybe isn't. |
